Membership & Affiliation
The Essex Association of Local Councils is committed to supporting the smooth running of local (parish & town) council business. To do this, the EALC ask that member-councils pay a yearly affiliation fee in line with the financial year-end. Affiliation provides members with legal support, communications updates, training opportunities, funding opportunities and parish development support. Affiliation fees are based on the size of the parish electorate, and are independently set at the national level.
The EALC provides a voice for local councils across Essex. We campaign on their behalf, raise awareness of their work and provide them with a range of services to support their needs. These services include lobbying both regional and national government to get the best legislative deal for local councils; providing specialist technical, legal and financial advice to member councils; organising events for member councils; providing up to date advice on national and legal developments; and sharing good practice between specific local council networks on a range of service areas.
By becoming an EALC member, your town or parish council will automatically become a member of the National Association of Local Councils. This will give you full access to all the support and resources they can offer too.
To find out more about EALC membership, and what benefits affiliation can give to your local council, please see the following special county update on membership and affiliation.
